Tambopata Biodiversity Reserve

Location: Peru

Summary of the project:

This projects helps the preservation of the Tambopata biodiversity reserve, located in the Peruvian Amazon forest.

This reserve is home of many endangered species (giant river otters, jaguars, blue macaw) and provides the local communities with clean water and other resources.

The area is under threat from illegal logging and farming.

The funds allocated to this project help help protecting the forest from these threats and support the restoration of degraded land to support the farming activities of the local communities outside of the protected area.

Certification: Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)

The project will generate approximately 4,500,000 Verified Emission Reductions over its 10-year lifetime.
